CHRISTMAS is creeping closer as tickets for one of York’s popular festive events go on sale.
Organisers of the Carols In Kirkgate at York Castle Museum hope the event – now in its 48th year – will be better than ever as the Kirkgate Singers and the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir return in Victorian costume to sing Christmas classics.
Colin Hockridge, chairman of the York Philharmonic Male Voice Choir, said: “It is a delight to be back performing in Kirkgate for another year, for what is to many the start of the festive season. The cobbled street of Kirkgate is the perfect setting to sing traditional carols in Victorian dress and take people back to Christmases past.”
Tickets go on sale on Monday from the museum’s admission desk and on Tuesday by phoning 01904 650333.
The performances will take place on December 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8 at 8pm.
Tickers cost £12.50 for adults and £10.50 for concessions. For more information, go to yorkcastlemuseum.org.uk
