Pocklington RUFC will be holding its popular annual summer school next Wednesday at the club’s Percy Road headquarters.

The summer school will provide a fun day of rugby-based coaching and activities for both newcomers and established players.

It will give a taste of what rugby is all about to youngsters who have never played the game, and will also develop the skills of those who have rugby experience.

The day lasts from 10am until 4pm and is aimed at boys and girls from the age of 7 to 12, and for boys up to 14.

Registration for the summer school starts at 9.30am on Wednesday, and the cost is £5, payable on the day in cash or by cheque payable to Pocklington RUFC.

Participants should bring trainers and boots if possible, sun cream, drinks and a packed lunch and a gum shield if they you have one – but don’t worry if you don’t.

A consent form from a responsible adult is part of the registration.

To register email brian.bennett10@btinternet.com or text 07834 813289.

The summer school is run by Pocklington RUFCs new youth development officer, Greg Bone, with assistance from qualified coaches at the club.

Bone is an experienced East Yorkshire community rugby coach, who has agreed to extend his role to work for Pocklington RUFC with local primary and secondary schools in and around Pocklington and Market Weighton.

He is already well known to many young local players through his input in as a rugby coach at Pocklington School and in coaching and managing East Yorkshire age group teams.
