With all the talk about taxes we pay and what they are used for, it may surprise readers to know that £20 million of EU cash, a lot of which comes from the UK taxpayer, is used each year to subsidise bullfighting.
This barbaric industry is at the moment in great financial difficulties. Recent polls show 89 per cent of British citizens would never visit a bull fight and in Spain 68 per cent are totally against public money being used to subsidise it.
The money is given to bull farmers to rear thousands of animals each year to be lanced and tormented to death in this barbaric spectacle that some people have the affront to call sport.
Please write to your MP about this issue of our taxes.
