THE latest children’s centre to be built in York has been officially opened.

Ken Exton, children’s centre programme manager at City of York Council cut the ribbon at the facility, which stands on the site of Haxby Road Primary School. The centre, which has been in operation since February, delivers support and services to parents and carers including a babies’ group, music and movement activities, a stay-and-play group, a language development group and a coffee hour when parents can meet up and children can play.

Juliet Burton, the council’s children’s centre locality manager, said: “The children’s centre is currently providing a variety of services to children and their families in partnership with other agencies. We are continually evaluating and developing the services we provide in this area and there will be more in the future.”
