A QUARTER of a century ago, York was rocked by one of the most unforgettable events in its history.
The Minster fire on July 9, 1984, devastated York’s most famous landmark and made headlines around the world.
The Press is planning to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the blaze, looking back at the events surrounding the fire itself, and the marathon reconstruction project that followed.
We will be speaking to firefighters, police officers and clergy who were there on the night, but we also want to hear your memories and stories – however big or small.
If you played a part in the story, or if you simply have a vivid memory of it, we would love to hear from you.
Email gavin.aitchison@thepress.co.uk or phone 01904 567133 or write to Gavin Aitchison, The Press, 76-86 Walmgate, York, YO1 9YN.
