Wigginton Grasshoppers Under-12s are celebrating another season of success.

The youngsters finished second in division one of the York Mitchell Sports League, finishing four points behind champions Tadcaster Albion.

On top of their league runners-up spot, Grasshoppers, backed by Minster Lions, received two awards from the North Riding County FA.

The team are pictured, left, displaying their award for Charter Standard Development Club of the Year 2008/9 and Charter Standard Coach of the Year, handed to manager Paul Hurst.

This month, Grasshoppers are due to round off their season with a summer tour to Holland, where they are planning to play three matches.

Hurst said: “It has been another great season from the boys.

“They are coached to try and play football the way the game should be played, with passing to feet and good movement.

“I am blessed with a team of boys who are talented, but also show great attitude and enthusiasm.”

Meanwhile, Hurst is looking for a goalscorer and a left-sided player for next season. Anyone interested should phone him on 07894 084940.
