New Earswick ARLC Under-8s drew an exciting match with Hunslet Parkside 20-20.

New Earswick scored from the first set with a great solo run from Ian Oakley.

Hunslet replied with three quick tries before a darting run from acting-half by Kian Oliver clawed a try back.

Parkside extended their lead before George Starkey spotted a gap in the defence and crossed from acting-half. Hunslet scored again, but a resurgent All Blacks started to take control with strong drives by Joe Davison and Charlie Precious leading to tries by Oliver and Oakley to equalise.

All Blacks defended well late on, with Austin Cole, Josh Kelly and Harry Griffiths prominent and Jordan Hyde pulling off an outstanding match-saving tackle. Men of the match were Oakley and Starkey with Charlie Archer the ‘rising star’.

This draw came after a scratch All Blacks U8s lost 28-0 to Hunslet Warriors, despite a brave display.

Men of the match were Harry Griffiths and Joe Davison, while there were strong defensive efforts from Starkey and Austin Cole. Kelly was the ‘rising star’, followed by Precious and Jake Naismith, while Oakley was denied a consolation try after a 50-metre break by a superb cover tackle.
