ALISTAIR COOPER was named top ten-year-old boy when York City Baths Club swam at the Doncaster Dartes Meet at Beverley Pool, writes Steve Carroll.

Picking up gold in the 50 metres breaststroke, a silver in the 50m freestyle and two fourth places, in the 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly, gave him the gong and helped York again come away in second place in the top club competition.

York gained eight gold medals, five silvers, six bronze, 13 fourth to sixth places as well as a total of 72 personal best performances.

A further 24 youngsters picked up speeding tickets for swimming too fast in their age group events.
