IT DIDN’T matter what mode of transport they used, but Year 11 pupils from Tadcaster Grammar School all arrived for the ball in their own inimitable style.

Stretch limousines, Hummers, vintage cars, sports cars, Bentleys, a Lamborghini and even a double- decker bus were the order of the day, as students climbed aboard to make one of their final journeys to the grounds of Toulston.

It was a chance for the youngsters to let their hair down and celebrate after five years of hard work and personal achievement before their GCSE examinations.

The “stars of the show” were greeted by Iain Wood, Head of Year 11, other members of staff, proud parents and the “paparazzi”.

Toulston Lodge Hall was once again the perfect setting with its marble fireplaces, decorative ceilings, wooden carvings and a marquee adjacent to the ballroom.

Black and white was the chosen theme for this year’s ball, with the teenagers being entertained throughout the evening by a DJ.

Meanwhile, sixth-formers at All Saints’ RC turned on the style for their prom at the Hilton Hotel, Tadcaster Road, York.
