NORTH Yorkshire golf ace Simon Dyson made a steady return to the European Tour with a one-under par opening round in The 3 Irish Open.
Dyson carded a 71 at County Louth Golf Club, in Baltray, after missing two weeks of action with a neck injury.
The 31-year-old birdied the third, eighth, 11th and 16th holes, but dropped shots at the sixth, 13th and par five 18th.
Dyson’s close friend Nick Dougherty was among the early pacesetters after carding a six-under 66, a score matched by Paul Lawrie.
