I AM surprised that no mention has been made before (apologies if I’ve missed it), about the spacing that some drivers leave between themselves and the car in front, in slow-moving queues, on the A1237 ring road.

I know that we should all leave a reasonable gap when on the open road, but in queues it should be closed up.

Many times, driving on this road (but no doubt repeated elsewhere) the unacceptable gaps left by many drivers cause stationary traffic to queue across and clog up the roundabout behind them, or prevent others from accelerating, as often the road in front clears as a roundabout is approached (eastbound from the river/railway bridge to the A19 roundabout is a perfect example).

As an aside, how many times have you failed to drive through traffic lights ahead, at green, because the guy or gal in front has failed to keep up, and the sensors in the road think that the end of the queue has been reached and change them to red?
