I WOULD like to thank all readers who replied to my letter regarding the wartime plane crash at Crockey Hill.
They have put my mind at rest. I often wondered how a pilot could have flown a plane along the Wheldrake Road and missed the house on the corner on the A19, and finished up on the West Side of the A19 in the trees.
I was ten years old at the time. I supposed I should have known, as there was only the after end showing. Now I know it was put there after the crash.
Peter Howdle, York Road, Riccall.
