THE new library at Fishergate Primary School is now open.
It has been named Dotti’s Library in memory of Doris Smith, of York, who left a substantial legacy to the school.
This money is being used to provide extra-curricular activities for the children.
A special assembly was held and children came in “dotty” fancy dress for the day. Each class visited the library for the first time and enjoyed the day.
Headteacher Andy Herbert said: “I am delighted to see the library now completed and open following months of hard work and I am especially grateful to the small group of parents who have given their time to setting it up. We think it looks great and the children will all enjoy using it to support their learning and encourage their enjoyment of reading.”
