ELEVEN children’s play parks in York are to have £47,000 spent on each of them this year. Next year, 11 more will each receive £53,000. Children, families and community organisations will be consulted on exactly how the money should be spent.
But the aim is to create safe play areas which promote “active, imaginative and adventurous play.”
York has lost too many playgrounds and playing fields recently – the most recent being the British Sugar cricket ground.
Playing outdoors is a vital part of childhood. It helps children grow up fit and healthy. This is just what the doctor ordered.
