WE CELEBRATED St George’s Day with St George’s School on Saturday, and what a colourful, entertaining afternoon we all had. We listened to an old English song performed beautifully by a young girl in the middle of the playground, which brought tears to a few eyes.

We watched enthusiastic English country dancing by St George’s RC Primary School, along with youngsters from other primary schools and their teacher, the talented Fran Garvey.

Then came an exciting play featuring a fierce dragon and brave St George himself. The school band, led by Richard Wilton, played to a high standard, displaying the many talents of these young people. The children, staff, parents and friends excelled themselves, providing sunshine and cream teas to bring the afternoon to a perfect close. Thank you St George’s and St George for a wonderful day.
