THE battle for honours in division two of the York John Smith’s Ladies Darts League is going down to the wire.

Leaders Acomb are tied on points with Mitre, but a superior win ratio sees them holding pole position going into the final week of matches.

Acomb were pushed all the way at Seahorse and gained the meanest margin win as Kayleigh Thomas and Lisa Gatenby secured the match points.

Mitre fell at the final hurdle as Shepherd ‘A’s final pair of Joyce Swainsbury and Chris Peebles snatched victory.

Shoulder gained victory as final pair Julie Gotherel and Pam Luck won to deny Cueball, whose June Miller hit the tons.

Sue Richardson partnered Carole Robson to secure Severus a victory at Winning Post.

Burton WMC hold on to third place despite losing heavily to visitors Tramways, who are also in the running for honours, while Sun beat Flag 7-2.

Cueball ‘B’ have secured the division one title after captain Tracey Farmeary (24) led them to a 5-4 win against bottom team Beeswing. Bev Harton and Angie Hields sealed the win.

Second-placed Clifton fell as Toni Smallwood (140, 3 x 100) guided Burnholme to victory with a 21-dart pairs in tandem with Pat Thompson.

Woolpack captain Doreen England won the opener against Cygnet, but Angela Smith started the visitors’ winning surge. Dawn Exton put the result beyond Pack.

Slip ‘A’ had to come from behind against Tiger, who held a 4-3 advantage. Beryl Thornham and Claire McInnes levelled, before colleagues Pat Cairns and Helen Kitchen snatched the win.

Slip ‘B’ also hit back after falling 3-0 behind to visitors Ox. Carol Perrett started their winning run as they polished off the remaining games.

Division three champions Tap fell to Leeman ‘B’, whose captain Barbara Russell hit the tons as they cleaned up in the pairs.

Shepherds reinforced their second place in division two by cleaning up in the pairs on their way to a 6-3 win against Hussars.

Leeman ‘A’ won by the same margin against Volunteer.

Jubilee are keeping tabs on Shepherds after a 7-2 win over Beagle.
