I have been following the periodic hysteria about car parking at York Hospital. There are many alternative and affordable ways of reaching the hospital without travelling by your own car.

The managers of the hospital trust have worked a small miracle for many years to fit modern medical facilities onto a site which is totally restricted, and most people are eternally grateful for the quality of care which we all receive.

At the same time they have kept faith with the staff and public by preserving some priceless land for car parking and even planned a two tier car park.

Given the squawking and wailing by those who are too lazy to avail themselves of alternative ways to reach the hospital, and those too mean to pay for the use of the land, I suggest the trust now abandons the provision of car parking and uses the land to build additional medical facilities, for the benefit of the majority of the population who really appreciate what the NHS provides for us.
