CHAMPIONS Fulford are one win away from retaining their York FA Under-19s League crown.

Fulford beat struggling Wigginton Grasshoppers 5-0 to record their 15th win of the campaign and move six points clear at the top with three games left.

Second-placed Poppleton Colts have completed their fixtures, but Rawcliffe or Dunnington could yet overhaul the leaders.

Prolific striker Danny Penrose scored a hat-trick and Carl Stewart bagged two goals for the leaders against a Wigginton side that performed better than the scoreline suggests.

Fulford travel to Heworth tomorrow before visiting Hamilton Panthers on Tuesday and Dunnington on Thursday.

Rawcliffe’s challenge was undermined by a 3-2 defeat at home to Poppleton. Dan Zambelli and Kyle Butler netted for Rawcliffe, while Ryan O’Reilly and Jack Doyle (2) were on target for Poppleton.

Dunnington edged to a 1-0 win over visitors Tadcaster Albion to keep their slim title hopes alive, but they face a crunch clash at Rawcliffe tomorrow.

Basement side Easingwold Town were beaten 4-1 at home by Hamilton Panthers.

Jonny Hunter netted for the hosts but his effort was eclipsed by goals from Danny Cates, Adam Brooke and John Patrick (2).

Second from bottom Huntington suffered a 3-2 home defeat by New Earswick in their final game of the season.

James Bond and James Smith were the Huntington goalscorers, while Reece Chapelow, Jonathon Moss and Danny Peart found the net for New Earswick.

New Earswick finish their programme with a home clash against Wigginton tomorrow.

Hamilton Panthers and Tadcaster Albion, who both have four games remaining, collide at Little Knavesmire tomorrow.
