STAR captain Jack Ashmore steered Thorpe United home to a 4-3 York Minor League U16s’ division one win over Easingwold Town.
The full-back excelled as Thorpe overturned triple chasing Easingwold in the seven-goal thriller.
A Ryan McEvoy slide-rule pass found Jordon Lodge who calmly rounded the keeper to put Thorpe in front.
But 90 seconds later Town’s man of the match Spencer found himself with acres of space to level.
Tom Littlewood headed Thorpe back to the front before McEvoy made it 3-1 as he was sent sprawling in the box and expertly thumped home the penalty.
Town countered with a reply before Ashmore turned provider. His free-kick was brilliantly caught on his chest, spun and thumped home by Littlewood for his second and Thorpe’s fourth goal.
A goalmouth scramble led to another Easingwold reply but Thorpe comfortably held out to return to the winning trail.
