Coneysthorpe ‘A’ made up ground on NEDL York and District Table Tennis League division one leaders Sessions ‘A’ after they thumped bottom club Railway ‘B’ 9-1, with Martin Lowe and Ian Stansfield unbeaten.

The top side were held to a draw by University ‘A’, though Richard Moss won his singles.

Railway ‘A’ are a clear third and they hammered Holgate ‘A’ 9-1, with Paul Robertson and Richard Crowther showing the way, though they only edged out Coneysthorpe ‘B’ 6-4 with Robertson in good form again.

Holgate ‘B’ are still battling to avoid the drop and they only went down 6-4 to Bootham ‘A’, for whom Jon Wooldridge was unbeaten.

Division two leaders Shepherds ‘A’ were made to work hard for a 6-4 win over relegation threatened BT ‘A’.

George Morrison overturned Keith Webster, though Dave Lamb won his singles but lost his doubles.

Railway ‘C’ are second and they overcame third-placed Holgate ‘D’ 6-4, despite a fine performance from John Flintoft, with the losers whitewashing bottom side Shepherds ‘B’.

NEDL/Bootham go top in division three after a 6-4 win over Bootham ‘D’, with Alan Wren winning his singles.

Railway ‘D’ needed the doubles to overcome a battling Holgate ‘F’ 6-4, and Shepherds ‘C’ overcame University ‘B’ by the same score.

In division four, leaders Shepherds ‘D’ whitewashed Railway ‘F’, while second-placed Norwich Union ‘A’ edged out Railway ‘E’ 6-4, with Matt Graham unbeaten.

Norwich Union ‘B’ whitewashed Railway ‘G’ and Railway ‘H’ beat Railway ‘F’ by a similar margin, with Lewis McCarthy beating Chris Bartle 16-14 in the final game. Jake McCarthy and Colin Smith led the way as they followed up in an 8-2 win over Railway ‘G’, while Norwich Union ‘B’ overcame Holgate ‘G’ 6-4.
