RIPON’S John Fletcher made it two wins from two in another fine Bob-Co Spring Angling League match at Carpvale.
Drawn on Cyprio 9, he chose to fish short pole to combat the gale-force winds. Offering meat at just six metres, he was soon into quality fish. Ten carp formed much of his winning bag but Fletcher also hauled out five tench in excess of 5lb for a winning 74lb 4oz.
Keith Larkin (York) again put on a good show taking top weight from the Match Lake with 53lb 14oz.
Fishing to the corner rushes with corn at 11 metres, he found carp to 3lb. Third place went to Steve Mazza (Bob-Co) from peg 29 on the same lake where long pole and corn proved the undoing of a dozen carp for a level 40lb.
Pete Uttley claimed the plaudits at Langwith from peg 28 on Kevin’s Lake on a cold and gusty day.
With a field of 60 anglers lining the banks of Kevin’s, Bethany’s and Anya’s many found the conditions too tricky, but not the consistent Uttley.
Using the favoured pellet at 13m approach, Uttley contacted carp to 3lb and stayed in contact to the whistle at which point he had 55lb 12oz.
Col McNeil got the best out of peg 16 on Pond Four at Oaktree Leisure as his meat and pellet attack at 12m found carp to eight pounds in feeding mood.
