I TOO am most concerned at the destruction of the interior of St Cuthbert’s Church, in Peasholme Green, York.
Do churches, when redundant, have to be ravaged, destroying many of the ancient artefacts within?Churches do need to be put into good use when they become redundant but the interiors must be preserved. The old churches of York are the very future of how the city has evolved. Other churches that have also been ravaged inside are St Mary’s in Coppergate, St John’s in Low Ousegate, St Saviour’s in St Saviourgate, among others.
It is very important that York ancient churches are cared for so that future generations can witness York’s vibrant history and the people of the past that helped to make it.
