John Nicholson knows a thing or two about doing things for love. He is such a mainstay of life for people in his little corner of York that they have nominated him for the second time for one of our Community Pride awards.
John is a City of York Council worker for Walmgate and Navigation Road, and local resident Barbara Pettitt has described him as ‘a rock’ to the neighbourhood.
She says he is always happy to go the extra mile for people, and that he has made the area a happier place to live.
One of the great things about York is that we know there are many more people like John out there. We lovc hearing their stories and sharing them with the rest of the city – so keep telling us about your local heroes.
You never know, they might emerge as one of the winners in our awards this year.
