Askham Bryan College’s annual lambing day has proved another success, with about 1,200 people turning out to this year’s event.

Ann Winduss, marketing manager at the college, said: “Lambing takes place over a month-long period and the college open their campus to the public and local community every year so that they can experience the lambing first-hand.”

This year the event was held on Mother’s Day. Aside from the lambing, visitors were able to see robotic milking and visit the beef unit.

They were also invited to visit the calves and there were indoor activities and crafts available for the children.

Ms Winduss said: “We were delighted that so many people could come and enjoy the day, and for once we had some very spring-like weather.

“It was lovely to see so many local people, and those who had travelled further a field, coming to see us and find out all about lambing and the college.”
