THE hunt for Claudia Lawrence continued yesterday, with police officers painstakingly searching every inch of her route to work – looking for any clue to her disappearance.
More than 40 officers spent the day combing land in and around St Nicholas Fields nature reserve and searching the garden of every house between Claudia’s home in Heworth Road and the University of York.
Police said more than 25 people had so far called the dedicated incident room in response to their appeal for information – but Claudia’s disappearance remained a mystery.
A spokesman for North Yorkshire Police said the focus of the investigation was Claudia’s walk to work last Thursday morning, but they were also keen to hear from anybody who might have seen the chef on Wednesday evening.
He said they believed the last time anybody had contact with Claudia was 8pm on Wednesday, when she spoke to her mother on the phone.
