YEARSLEY Grove Primary School youngsters are celebrating a tournament clean sweep.
The school’s netball team emerged victorious from a three-school event involving hosts Robert Wilkinson Primary School and Ralph Butterfield Primary School.
Yearsley Grove beat both Robert Wilkinson ‘B’ and Ralph Butterfield ‘B’ 8-0 before dispatching Robert Wilkinson ‘A’ 2-1.
The greatest test of Yearsley Grove’s netball ability came in their 2-1 victory over a very strong Robert Wilkinson ‘A’ team.
The result was finally decided with a golden goal in extra time by Ryan Foster in the closing minutes of the match.
The nail-biting continued as Yearsley faced Ralph Butterfield ‘A’ in the final.
Team spirit shone through as they dug in and managed to pull out a 3-1 victory.
Sarah Wright, deputy head and netball coach, said: “We are incredibly proud of the commitment, determination and sportsmanship shown by the children.
“They were fantastic representatives for our school.”
The winning squad only recently teamed up to play against rival schools, competing in their first friendly against English Martyrs in mid-February.
