MORE than £100,000 is being invested in sport and community facilities at Boroughbridge High School, following an agreement over its future management.
The leisure centre at the school is currently run by Harrogate Borough Council as a joint use facility with the agreement of North Yorkshire County Council and the school. As part of improving services for young people across the county, North Yorkshire County Council, through its children and young people’s service, now wishes to provide a permanent home for the Boroughbridge Youth Club by basing it at the leisure centre.
In the light of this, the centre will remain owned by the county council, but its future management will rest with the school.
Coun Pat Jones said Borough-bridge residents would see new and improved facilities, while council-run activities at the centre, including junior coaching and holiday play schemes, would continue.
