DO YOU recognise any of these girls out on the town?

The camera used to take these pictures was found among a haul of goods seized by police investigating late night pick-pocketing in York city centre.

Now officers are trying to trace the rightful owner of the camera.

PC Paul Beckwith, of the safer neighbourhood response team, said three arrests had been made following a string of thefts in pubs and clubs in York city centre.

He said a large quantity of property, which was believed to have been stolen, was recovered following the arrests.

Police are working to restore the goods seized – including mobile phones, cash, an assortment of credit and debit cards, and the Samsung digital camera with which these pictures were taken – to their original owners.

PC Beckwith said: “I am hoping that someone reading this will recognise the girls shown in the photographs taken on the camera, and will get in touch with me so that I can reunite it with its owner.

“I believe that it may have been stolen from them at some time between 11pm and 2am in the centre of York on the night of Friday, February 20.”

Following the spate of thefts, PC Beckwith urged revellers to be vigilant while enjoying a night out.

He said: “It only takes a second for someone to dip their hand into a handbag or pocket, even if it is being worn by the owner at that time, and remove valuable property.” Anyone who recognises the girls shown in these photographs or has had property stolen recently on a night out in York, should leave a message for PC Beckwith on 0845 6060247 or email him at paul.beckwith@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
