I READ with interest the letter on “e-discrimination” sent in by Dale Edwards of Newborough Street, York (Are we practising e-discrimination? January 29).
Here at Future Prospects, York’s free Learning and Work Advice Centre, we see lots of people wanting to apply for jobs where the only option is to apply online.
Many jobseekers looking at customer-facing jobs or working for a large company are often faced with overcoming the hurdle of using new technology to job search or make applications.
This can be daunting for a lot of people who may have little or no experience in using IT, but have a wealth of other work skills to offer employers.
I would like to invite Mr Edwards to visit our friendly service so we can help him with any aspect of his job searching or updating of IT skills.
We offer free online application workshops on a regular basis in order to help people learn the right IT skills to be able to job search and apply online effectively.
We have computers available to anyone wanting to access the internet for job searching, as well as delivering additional employability skills workshops and one to one advice on any learning and work issue.
