SIMON Dyson finished in a four-way tie for 32nd place after an incredible late collapse in the Dubai Desert Classic at the Emirates Golf Club.

The North Yorkshire ace played 21 holes on the final day of a weather-interrupted tournament, completing a one-over par 73 third round before shooting a one-under par 71 in the fourth round.

His final round featured only five pars and he bogeyed the last five holes to plummet down the leaderboard.

He was four-under par after the opening nine holes and birdied the tenth and 11th to be ten-under for the tournament.

However, five dropped shots proved the difference between 32nd and 16th place.

Dyson had ended a hectic Saturday on five-under par after completing his second round and playing 15 holes of his third round.

After a first round 71, Dyson carded a 68 in round two after five birdies and a bogey.

He played the first 15 holes of the third round in level par, leaving him in a tie for 24th place.

The tournament was won by Northern Ireland teenager Rory McIlroy, who held his nerve to win a first professional title by one stroke from Englishman Justin Rose.
