City of York Athletics Club ace Richard Buck pushed Canada’s Tyler Christopher all the way to the line in the 400 metres on his indoor comeback at the Aviva International in Glasgow.
Buck, who was plagued by illness and injury last season, clocked 47.29 seconds to finish second behind Christopher, the reigning world indoor champion, who came home in 47.19.
Buck was in blistering form indoors last year, but was barely seen on the track after June.
Although he was picked for the Great Britain 4x400m relay team at the Beijing Olympics, the after-effects of his illness kept him out.
