FOG has delayed Simon Dyson’s Dubai adventure.

The North Yorkshire golfer completed only five holes of his second round in the Dubai Desert Classic with six hours of play lost over the opening two days because of the conditions.

Following up an opening 71 at the Emirates Golf Club, Malton and Norton Golf Club’s Dyson – who started his second round from the tenth tee – birdied his opening hole before carding four straight pars.

Tournament officials were hoping for a prompt start this morning, which they believed would allow the third round leaders to complete nine holes before returning on Sunday morning ahead of their final rounds.

But if fog again seriously delays the start, a decision will have to be made whether to extend the tournament into Monday or opt to cut the event to 54 holes.

Sweden’s Henrik Stenson, who followed up an opening 68 with a 65, leads on 11 under par – one shot ahead of Australia’s Richard Green.
