YORK MINSTER is bathed in red to highlight the latest campaign by the British Heart Foundation (BHF).
The switch-on was performed by York actor Andrew Dunn, star of TV’s Dinner Ladies and Coronation Street.
The Red For Heart campaign aims to raise awareness of heart and circulatory disease – the UK’s number one killer.
Martin Sheppard, spokesman for York Minster, said: “York Minster is at the heart of Yorkshire, so it’s very fitting that it will be a symbol in the Red For Heart campaign and the fight against heart disease.”
A spokesman for BHF said: “York Minster is such an iconic landmark. We approached the minster years ago and they were happy to be on board.”
