BRAGGING rights were assured for Selby RUFC Under-15s as they whitewashed York 29-0.
The crushing victory meant the young Swans had put 65 unanswered points past their neighbours and confirmed their superiority over their Clifton Park foes.
From the kick-off, the battle raged mainly between the 22s but Selby quickly mastered the conditions.
Josh Cruise unpicked the leaden defence and strode through for the opening try and, just before the break, Oliver O’Brien-Elliot picked the ball up from the base over a five-metre scrum and stormed over dragging would-be tacklers to score a peach of a try. Cruise converted and Selby led 12-0 at the interval.
After the break, Adam Wass thundered over for try number three – nearly demolishing the posts in the process – before Adam Brown swooped for his regulation try.
The scoring was concluded by Jacob Robinson, completely unstoppable, crashing over from the edge of the 22. Cruise added the extras.
The previous week, Selby beat Richmondshire & Hambleton District Schools 41-0 and Penrith 12-0.
