Heworth ARLC Under-9s fought back to win a bruiser of a match at Eastmoor.

Heworth took the game to the hosts from the off, with strong running from Cain North, Max Carry, Arron McBride and Jamie Harvey, and they took the lead as a set-move saw Carry barge over.

Eastmoor replied with three converted tries, but Josh Rogerson ghosted in just before the break.

In the second half, Heworth overturned a ten-point deficit, wearing down the opposition with field position and ferocious tackling from McBride and Leon Beattie.

Heworth half-backs North and Young began to dictate play and find gaps, and Carry and Rogerson were rewarded with hat-tricks.

Debutant Kieran Kostanzo also got heavily involved with good running, while Heworth’s final try saw North run the full length of the field, Beattie converting to complete a narrow victory.
