City of York Hockey Club Under-14s Boys’ won two of their three games in their latest Yorkshire Youth League fixture.
York beat Slazengers 3-0 and, although they lost 2-0 to Doncaster, they closed out with a 2-1 win over Ben Rhydding ‘B’.
Slazengers were beaten thanks to goals from Callum Craig, Ryan Mercer and Ben Smith.
York then had to go straight into a game against a useful Doncaster side.
A close game was in the balance until Doncaster scored a second with the last hit of the game.
The third game proved to be probably the worst performance of the day, but provided a welcome 2-1 victory against Ben Rhydding ‘B’.
Craig netted the first and the much-needed winner came from Harry Dixon.
There were excellent performances from Oliver Hicks and Jack Crowther.
