A SHOP worker was held up at knife point during a foiled raid at a convenience store in York.
The incident happened at about 5am on Monday, when three robbers forced entry to McColls, in Hamilton Drive West, Acomb.
Detectives say the trio struck as an employee was turning the alarms off at the back of the store.
He was forced to open the safe before the robbers were disturbed by a tenant who lived in the flat above and fled.
It is believed the gang all had knives, but no one was injured. No cash was stolen but police are still investigating whether anything else was taken from the shop.
Police described the offenders as male, and in their late teens or early 20s. Officers said each wore a scarf across his face.
Anyone with any information is asked to phone police on 0845 60 60 247.
