Detectives are appealing for witnesses and information following a ram-raid at a motorcycle shop on the outskirts of York.

It happened at about 1am on Monday 26 January 2009 at George Chapman Ltd at Heworth Village.

A maroon-coloured Ford Escort car is believed to have been driven into the glass- fronted showroom and two men were seen entering the premises.

They made off in the car with a variety of motorcycle accessories, including six Takasui helmets, three black RST Gor-Tex jackets and two red and blue Yamaha biker jackets.

The car itself had been reported stolen from Burnholme area of York overnight between Sunday and Monday (25-26 January 2009). It has not yet been traced.

Police inquiries to locate the suspects and the vehicle are ongoing.
