COUNCILLORS have abandoned plans to broadcast their meetings online.
The Conservatives on City of York Council performed a U-turn, saying the money could now be better spent elsewhere.
Labour and the Tories had previously united in calling for “webcasting” to be introduced at the council, allowing residents to view meetings online from home.
The Liberal Democrats said the £50,000 start-up cost money should go on key council services.
