PEERLESS Simon Dyson ended the Qatar Masters with a six-under par surge into the top ten.

The North Yorkshire star carded the best round of the final day in Doha – a 66 – to soar from joint 25th into a share of seventh place alongside Ryder Cup hero Sergio Garcia.

Rounds of 72, 70, 69 and 66 gave Dyson an 11-under par total as the leading Englishman in the tournament, eight shots behind winner Alvaro Quiros, of Spain.

The Malton and Norton Golf Club player’s ever-improving scorecards earned him the clubhouse lead for a spell yesterday – and eventually prize money a shade over £41,000.

In a bogey-free round, Dyson picked up shots at the first, fourth, eighth, ninth, 12th and 18th.

On Saturday, he had climbed 11 places up the leaderboard after a third round 69 took him to five-under par for the tournament.

Dyson went out in 35, bogeying the par-four fifth before picking up shots on the par-four sixth and seventh holes.

On the back nine, he birdied the 14th, 15th and 18th, while dropping a stroke at the par-three 17th.
