LIKE father, like son... young Alex Tutill is following in the footsteps of dad Steve at the heart of the defence for table-topping Osbaldwick Football Club Under-11s.

The club are two points clear at the top of division two of the Ryedale Junior League.

Among the Osbaldwick coaching team is former York City defender Steve Tutill, who is now a PE instructor with the prison service.

Tutill, whose son Alex plays at centre-back, has been involved with the club for the last three years.

A club spokesman said: “Steve has brought with him a vast amount of personal experience and knowledge of the game, and this has proved valuable to the team, particularly since we have gone to 11-a-side on full-size pitches.”

Osbaldwick have been running junior teams for six years ago, and several of the U11s have been with the club since starting out as U7s.

The U11s are sporting a new look having been provided with a kit by Martin Ovenden, of York Lift Trucks The spokesman added: “We would like to thank Martin Ovenden of York Trucks for his kind sponsorship.”
