HOWZAT for generosity?
Junior cricketers at Hirst Cricket Club have netted a £1,000 funding boost from the village pub, the Sloop Inn.
Landlady Angela Wild raised the money with the help of customers who held charity nights, auctions and a duck race at the pub.
Wild presented the cash to junior players Sam and Matthew Hinch.
She said: “The cricket club is a part of the community and the money will help to develop the youngsters so the club can continue.”
Lawrence Stones, president of the club, which fields a team in the HPH York Vale Cricket League, said: “The cash will be very useful to provide equipment for the young members.”
