THORPE United Football Club Under-16s reached the final of the Barkston Ash Junior Cup with a 4-2 victory over visitors Garforth Villa in the last four.
Thorpe, who play in division one of the York Minor League, kept their cool against a fiercely physical Leeds side.
The visitors took the lead after only five minutes and, with Thorpe missing a host of chances, that remained the score at half-time.
After the break, Thorpe’s pressure told when a superb goal-bound strike was handled by a defender, leading to a red card and a penalty.
Ryan McEvoy dispatched the spot-kick, only to see Villa immediately regain the lead with a penalty of their own.
However, McEvoy got his second with a header from a Dec Redman and he completed his hat-trick by following up a fumbled Ben Yorke free-kick. Midfielder Ross Gemmill sealed the win with a fourth goal.
