York Indoor Bowls Club ‘A’ remain top of the Yorkshire Over-55s League after 14 points were collected from a 94-58 conquest of South Leeds.
Geoff Walker’s away team did well. Despite a late scare they won 18-16.
However, it was damage limitation for Malcolm Thompson’s team. They trailed 18-1 after 12 ends, then rallied but lost 20-16.
At home, Peter Littlewood’s team had a dream start, leading 21-0 after only eight ends before winning 32-10.
Fred Clayden’s side let a 10-2 lead slip to 10-10 but stepped up a gear to triumph 28-12.
Second division strugglers York ‘B’ only had one winning rink in their 80-65 defeat by leaders Thornaby.
That came from the team led by Alwyn Redhead. His rink rallied from 7-1 down to win 24-13.
