DUNNINGTON Magpies FC Under-18s are through to the semi-finals of the Hull Boys League Knockout Plate.
Dunnington beat Leconfield Saints U18s on penalties after the game was all-square at 4-4 after 90 minutes and 5-5 after extra time.
The Magpies dominated the first half, with striker Martyn Day in superb form as he scored a hat-trick to give his side a 3-1 half-time lead.
Leconfield forced Dunnington back early in the second half and narrowed the deficit to 3-2.
However, Dunnington immediately replied with Day converting a fine move for his fourth goal.
Leconfield showed tremendous spirit to get back in the game again, with the ball bouncing kindly in the box for a tap-in.
With five minutes remaining, Leconfield forced an equaliser and extra time.
Dunnington took the initiative once again with a 30-yard pile-driver from centre-back Oliver Burt, but an equaliser took the game to a penalty shoot-out.
The Magpies’ successful spot-kick takers were Oliver Burt, Alex Brent, Steve Woods and James Griffiths, while Leconfield missed two of their four kicks.
