City of York Hockey Club Under-14 girls’ ‘A’-team swept to a hat-trick of conquests in the Yorkshire Youth tournament at Brigshaw.
Against Wakefield in their opening game, York dominated to run out worthy 3-1 winners thanks to two goals from Ella Davies and a solo effort by Amber Moores.
York then pressurised the Rotherham team without being able to find the net until Moores drove home a right-wing cross from Vicky Wrigley to seal a deserved 1-0 victory.
York completed the day with a fine 3-0 win over Hull.
Again York piled on the pressure without scoring until a fine solo effort from skipper Sian King.
Moores and Wrigley then added to the scoreline.
The City of York ‘B’ team, played at Darton and started well only to lose a tight opening tussle 1-0 to Kirklees.
Next up, they lost 2-0 to a strong Thirsk 2-0 side.
Britney Hopkins and Gemma Kane played well in midfield, with the defence looking secure in the last game which the York ranks won 1-0 against Halifax.
