TEN years to the day he joined Selby Golf Club, Tony Steen, MBE, drove in as captain.

The 15-handicap player served in the Royal Air Force for 33 years as a fighter pilot. His wife Susan is a former ladies captain at the Mill Lane-based club.

During his year in office Steen will be raising cash for his chosen charity, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The same YAA charity benefited by £17,000 realised during the year of Steen’s predecessor, Chris Livsey.

Steen’s vice-captain will be Roy Clarke, who has been a member of Selby GC for 30 years.
