WHAT About Us proved that John Barrowman can be a great pop performer, as well as one of the leading men of musical theatre and a rather dashing Captain Jack.
What About Us also adds to Gary Barlow’s extra-curricular activity. Unfortunately, the rest of Music Music Music is too rigid and safe to score a follow-up hit. Although Can’t Take My Eyes Off You, From A Distance and You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me are great songs, Barrowman brings nothing new.
To be fair, he has a great voice, so the Harrogate’s International Centre audience on May 27 will enjoy stirring versions of Uptown Girl and I Am What I Am, but many of us would prefer another tune or two by Barlow.
