The big freeze put paid to most still-water contests but Kev Whincup at Carpvale deployed his boat to good effect on the Match Lake, breaking enough ice to allow Sunday’s Bob-Co contest to go ahead despite the Arctic conditions.
Greens Fisheries’ Mick Green was top rod from peg 43. He netted a respectable 36lb of small carp on pole and maggot.
Gary Miller had nine carp on similar tactics from peg 27 for his 18lb 2oz to see off the challenges of Roy Worsnop and Stuart Wilson, who netted 9lb 14oz and 9lb 8oz catches respectively.
