In a case of déjà vu young Tim Bell topped a third Langwith Open on the trot from peg three on Kevin’s Lake.

The Langwith-backed 22-year-old angler worked steadily away at 14 and five metres offering 4mm Van den Eynde RS pellets over regular top-ups from the pot.

Fishing a single pellet on a 16 hook to 0.14 bottom, he took fish to 4lb to triumph, a fish short of another ton, on 99lb 8oz over a quality field of 54 commercial specialists.

Julian Griffin (Hull DAA) continued his recent good form at the Heslington fishery with second place from peg 9 on the same lake.

Fishing tight to the far-bank at 15 metres in just inches of water, he endured a biteless three hours before the fish suddenly switched on and he hauled out 87lb 6oz of fish to 3lb in a hectic two-hour feeding frenzy.

Result: 1 Tim Bell, Langwith, 99-8-0; 2 Julian Griffin, Hull DAA, 87-6-0; 3 Danny Scott, United Bait, 77-7-0; 4 Steve Richards, Langwith, 77-6-0; jt 5 Roger Holmes, Garbolino Elton and Dean Smith, Garbolino Ossett both 72-14-0.

Ide featured strongly again at the Willows, where winner Oliver Hewitt found plenty of them early on with caster into open water at peg 57.

With around 35lb of them in the net, he switched to meat in the margins to connect with carp to 7lb and at the whistle he had 120lb.

Nearby at peg 60, Neil Rymer used maggot for his quota of ide before also coming inside to top his net up to 104lb 12oz with carp to eight pounds.

Result: 1 Oliver Hewitt, United Bait, 120-0-0; 2 Neil Rymer, JT Rogers, 104-12-0; 3 Steve Raper, Hirst Tackle, 104-2-0; 4 Trev Hewson, Leeds Angling, 84-0-0; 5 Stewart Wilson, Leeds Angling, 80-12-0; 6 Paul Gallagher, The Willows, 70-0-0.

Although weights were on the low side for round four of the Leeds Summer League on the Aire at Haddlesy, it was a memorable match for Dave Topham.

The Wibsey rod kept his 100 per cent record, this time with a reduced 8lb 9oz. Drawn in 16 feet of water at peg 53, he used stick and long rod with maggot on the hook for 50 skimmers and hybrids to six ounces. Runner-up Keith Mitchell, Garbolino Elton, opted for the feeder and red maggot at peg 38 where the mid-river line yielded a level 8lb of hybrids.

Result: 1 Dave Topham, Sensas Wibsey, 8-9-0; 2 Keith Mitchell, Garbolino Elton, 8-0-0; 3 John Cyrowski, Barlby Village Stores, 6-13-0; 4 Craig Turbitt, Sensas Wibsey, 6-9-0; 5 Arthur Benstead, Pontefract, 5-0-0; 6 Mick Shaw, Hirst Tackle, 4-13-0.

Although the Ouse was almost back to normal level on Sunday, bites were hard won at Linton and eventual winner of the Leeds Annual, Phil Austin, found his 7lb 14oz enough for a comfortable win.

Drawn at Linton peg 269, Phil used the crumb feeder with worm and maggot on the hook to beat a bream of 5lb and add a dozen roach and perch. Noel Speight narrowly won the race for second from peg 289, where pole-fished red maggot brought him a dozen skimmers for a 5lb 2oz tally.

Result: 1 Phil Austin, Barlby Village Stores, 7-14-0; 2 Noel Speight, Leeds, 5-2-0; 3 Peter Hamilton, Big Waters, 5-0-0; 4 Phil Hyde, Leeds Angling, 4-15-0; 5 Scott Lister, Browning Quaker, 3-15-0; 6 Martin Thorpe, Leeds, 3-12-0.

A 76lb 4oz mix of carp and barbel, both running to 4lb, put Gareth Watson at the top of the frame on Pond Four at Oaktree Leisure.

He worked peg 53 with pellet and caster at 16m to keep well clear of the chasing Tony Greaves, who opted for paste at 10m off peg 18 to find mainly carp to 4lb as he progressed to 65lb.

Result: 1 Gareth Watson, Oak Tree Leisure, 76-4-0; 2 Tony Greaves, Oak Tree Leisure, 65-0-0; 3 John Kerry, Yorkshire Tykes, 59-0-0; 4 Dave Thompson, Morley Match Anglers, 56-4-0; 5 Alan Norfolk, Yorkshire Tykes, 53-8-0; 6 Nick Hague, Oak Tree Leisure, 52-4-0.
